| Starting a limited company in Singapore |
| A company is an entity
registered under the Companies Act, Chapter 50. It has a
legal personality, has rights to own properties, can sue or
be sued. A company will have the words 'Private Limited' or
'Limited' as part of its name. Two individuals are required
to be appointed as directors of a Singapore limited company,
one of which shall have to be a resident of Singapore. The
laws governing the registration of a limited company is the

| Starting
a business firm in Singapore |
|
Any person who would like to
start a trade, profession and any activity carried on for
the purpose of gain shall register a business firm with the
Registrar of Companies and Businesses. A business firm can
be either in the form of a sole-proprietorship or a
partnership. Individuals and companies being
"legal" persons may register and own a business
firm. However a business firm, not being a legal entity,
cannot register another business firm. Individuals and
companies registering a business firm need not be
Singaporeans or incorporated in Singapore. However the
manager of such a business firm will have to be a resident.
